- The Clippers are a team that has moved many times. When he entered the NBA in early 1970, he settled in Buffalo and called it the Buffalo Warriors. In the 1977-78 season, with the permission of NBA president David Stern, the Buffalo Warriors moved to San Diego and soon changed their name to the Clippers. In 1981, the team changed hands and Sterling became the owner of the team. He moved the Clippers to Los Angeles in 1984. From the 1976-77 season, the Clippers failed to make the playoffs for 16 consecutive seasons. It wasn’t until 1991-92 that they were once again in the playoffs.
