- The Los Angeles Lakers were in Minneapolis in 1948 when they joined the NBA, but the loss of a plane caused the Lakers boss to make a determined effort and relocated to Los Angeles in 1960. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the few evergreens in NBA history, and the team is second only to the Boston Celtics. The greatest feature of the Lakers is that there is always a great center who is associated with them. Mikan, Chamberlain, Jabbar, Wharton and O'Neill (now Gasol and Bynum) and others have created the "Lakers dynasty." In 1951-1954, the Lakers won the first three consecutive NBA champion
